John Wicks Clinic: Body Control Exercises 1A, 1B, 2 & 3
13.00 minutes – In this video John goes through his body control exercises 1A, 1B, 2 and 3 with a student. Exercise 1A is an exercise John uses a lot when trying to teach a horse to collect and go forward, so it teaches the horse to be soft and respect a leg. Exercise 1B focuses more on the ribcage with softness of the horse’s body, engagement over the back and eventually helps with the lead departures to get the horse’s body round and soft before cantering off. John also teachers the rider exercises 2 and 3, and explains how these four exercises will eventually lead to all the maneuvers. Then if you are having problems with any maneuvers you can always come back and improve these exercises.
