John Wicks Clinic: Doing Spins with a Horse that is Rushing & Not Staying Honest to the Rider’s Leg
10.15 minutes – In this video John talks a rider through working on their horse’s alignment on a small walk circle and then going into a spin while maintaining a consistent rhythm (cadence). The horse isn’t staying honest to the outside leg and isn’t keeping a steady rhythm so John gets the rider to use their outside leg and rein to frame the horse up, slow the horse down and get them more cadenced. The horse is trying to rush through the spin to stop the rider from putting their legs on. This exercise will help teach the horse to slow down, use better form to spin and be more honest to the rider’s legs.
