John Wicks Clinic: Steering & Moving the Shoulders of a Dull Horse
14.50 minutes – In this video John explains a steering exercise to a student with a dull horse. He gets the student to pick up contact and move their horse’s shoulders across so there are corners on the circle. John explains how sometimes you can’t get enough leg on these types of horses to drive the horse up into the bridle so he will do this exercise to rock the horse back onto their hip. This exercise helps the horse gather themselves up and balance more on their backend so they can then move their shoulders easier.
