John Wicks Clinic: Using Exercises 1A, 1B & 2 to Help Change a Horse’s Attitude
9.28 minutes – In this video John helps a student with body control exercises 1A, 1B and 2. He starts with exercise 1A and every time the rider uses her leg the horse thinks of speeding up so John gets her to repeat the exercise until the horse starts to relax to the leg pressure. The horse relaxes but still has a bad attitude, so he gets the rider to hold her leg there to keep applying some pressure until their attitude changes. Changing the way the horse thinks and feels about leg pressure will take time. John then moves onto exercise 1B where the horse shows resistance moving forward. With repetition, the horse will eventually realize all they need to do is go forward and move away from the pressure.
