Lead Change Preparation at the Walk & Counter Canter
8.53 minutes – In this video John talks through an exercise he likes to do so the horse understands the hand and leg aids required in preparing for a flying lead change. Starting at the walk, John explains each aspect of his approach to the lead change. In the future if the lead change goes wrong John uses this as a foundation exercise to come back to support the horse’s body in the correct shape for the lead change. John also talks through the counter canter in a figure of eight. These exercises are the first steps in preparation for the flying lead change.
